Miss Universe 2008

One of the most important events in international relations is occurring tomorrow night. That’s right! Miss Universe 2008. The fine gentlemen over at Powerline will be live blogging it. I recommend that you check out their coverage.

While I usually consider beauty pageants rather boring as they don’t emphasize the sexiest part of a woman (her mind), Miss America has a solid shot at winning this year. Vegas has her odds at 5-1, just behind the favorite Miss Venezuela. In case you wondered, the US ranks 1st with 7 contest victories in the pageant’s 56 year history. WE are the Yankees of the beauty pageant world. And like the Yankees, we have not sealed the deal for around a decade. So please support the lovely Crystle Stewart and ensure the continuation of American imperialism over Venezuela; anything else would be unpatriotic.

If that still doesn’t get your political sentiments hot and bothered, Miss Egypt Yara Naoum was accused of bitch-slapping reigning Miss Universe Riyo Mori of Japan in response to Riyo “accidentally” stepping on her dress in the backstage area at the preliminaries. One can only hope the hostilities will escalate.

Update: I apologize for the mistake. Power Line is not live blogging this year but has done so in the past. My bad.
