Miss Universe 2008, Part II

My Miss Universe 2008 post brought in a lot of traffic last night, so I thought I would share a serious post highlighting the geopolitical angle of the competition last night.

Note to self: take bathroom breaks only during the commercial breaks. Last night, I missed out on Miss America Crystle Stewart falling on her fanny during the evening gown competition. That is two years in a row that Miss America has fallen down ‘on the job’, so to speak. I demand an investigation from Congress to see if foul play was involved. If we can investigate steroids in baseball, surely we can investigate this.

Update: According to this website (which is skeptical), Miss Egypt Yara Nauom’s bitch-slapping of Miss Universe 2007 was an accident and not the precursor to interstate war:

Miss Egypt was horrified when she learned she has just slapped the reigning Miss Universe.

The Egyptian beauty then immediately apologized and explained she didn’t know it was Riyo.

Also, there have been questions on whether Miss Egypt is Muslim or Christian, as some have commented that no good Muslim would wear a bikini. I will let you decide her religion.

Update #2: I can’t believe I missed this last night. Kosovo, who only gained independence in February, fielded a contestant. Talk about geopolitical ramifications. Here is a publicity photo of Miss Kosovo Zana Krasniqi:
