Sometimes I feel like fighting global warming is futile. Every day there seems to be some report telling us that our efforts to be green are not effective or are actually worse (e.g. corn ethanol). Today it is LCD TVs:
The gas used in manufacturing liquid crystal display (LCD) flat-screen televisions could cause more global warming than coal-fired power plants, according to a report in the journal Geophysical Research Letters.
LCDs, in addition to having better resolution than TVs of old, are more energy efficient and thus have been considered more green. So if it is true they contribute more to global warming than higher-energy products, it certainly can make one fatalistic.
