Zachary Taylor was the second President to die in office, after 16 months. His only real accomplishment was heightening tensions on slavery (granted, in favor of limiting slavery) and stoking a Union vs. Slave State militarism. Not a particularly desirable. Sometimes electing war heroes with little claim to political knowledge is a bad idea.
